CEO David Khazai is the fifth generation of his family to be directly involved with Oriental rugs -- with every phase of the industry, from design to production, from distribution to wholesale and retail sales. But he is the first generation to embrace technology, spending more than the past two decades and investing significant amounts of his own money in pursuit of better ways to do business.
David is recognized nationally and internationally for his expertise in the Oriental rug business, and perhaps more importantly, his background made him uniquely prepared to bring new world thinking to an old world enterprise, with the development of RMPro® and the subsequent creation of Innovations International, Inc . |
He first began pursuing technological aspects of the business during the period 1990-2003, initially developing sophisticated graphic software to design Oriental rugs, fabric, and wallpaper. Then, based on the possibilities he envisioned in his own retail business and frustrated because he couldn’t find a program available that fit the unique needs of the rug business, he began development of Windows-based, innovative POS software for inventory management that increased control, reduced costs, and minimized paperwork for inventory that is both received and distributed under multiple sets of criteria. This was the foundation of RMPro®, the company’s first commercial software product.
With input and constant feedback from users, he has continued to upgrade and expand that product, adding features and options that just aren’t available anywhere else. Its success led him to establish Innovations International, Inc., and to begin developing other products for the small to midsize retailer in the home furnishings industry.
Throughout his career, the key to David's success has been an ability to anticipate new technological developments on both the operational and marketing sides of retail business. In 2009, he initiated a dynamic and interactive new web-based concept to link vendors and retailers together for increased sales, higher profits and lower costs – eCatalog. In 2010, he took the next step and introduced iRugz, a mobile application for wireless devices that allows small to midsize retailers to take advantage of the growth of consumer shopping via smart phones and other wireless devices.
An avid and extensive reader, he stays on top of changing consumer and marketplace dynamics and how they affect the sales environment. He is also still active in the rug business himself, and that drives his commitment to the continuing development of efficient, affordable, technological solutions for the small to midsize retailer.
